Belmopan. August 12, 2016. In a brief ceremony at the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Belize City, on behalf of his government, H.E. Ambassador Benjamin Ho presented the Government of Belize with a cheque valued at US$100,000.00 to assist with relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Earl.
Ambassador Ho expressed his delight in seeing the resilience and solidarity of the government and people of Belize in the aftermath of the storm, which made landfall on Wednesday, August 3rd, destroying homes and causing serious damage to infrastructure and the agriculture and tourism industries.
The Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Hon. Dr. Carla Barnett; and the Minister of State with responsibility for NEMO, Hon. Edmond Castro, accompanied by Minister Hon. Tracy Panton, received the donation on behalf of the Government and people of Belize.
The Government of Belize takes this opportunity to once again express its gratitude to the Ambassador and the Government of ROC Taiwan for their generous donation during this time of recovery.
